Our Bitcoin Journey
2013? - Gerry told me to look into buying bitcoin but I ignored the idea. April 2017 - My son introduced us to Ethereum. April 2017 - I opened accounts with Coinbase and Gemini. I prefer Gemini, Coinbase was not able to handle the massive activity on their site on May 25, 2017 when people were panic buying but Gemini was able too, I tried it myself. It takes a couple of weeks for your account to get validated. April 2017 - I bought my shares of Ethereum. May 2017 - Gerry bought his first bitcoin from Coinbase. May 2017 - I followed, didn't wanna be left behind, FOMO. BTC @ $1.6k. Bought @ 1.7k, 1.8k, 1.9k, 2.1k, 2.4k. May 25 2017 - Experiencing our first - parabolic rise of bitcoin. Bitcoin reach all time high of $2,759.15 @ coinmarketcap.com. May 27, 2017 - Experiencing our first - bitcoin collapsing in value ⇩ $1,855.83 @ coinmarket.cap.com. 6am as I woke up and Gerry getting ready for work screamed bitcoin's down in the 1900's, so I run to my computer and bought some more... crazy Huh. At least this made me feel better since I had bought when it was $2.4k. |
June 8 2017 - I'm really confident of my (long) investment on BTC and Ethereum (but not sure yet if I'll go long on Ethereum). I'd prefer BTC to go slow so it will be more stable.
December 12 2017 - Yesterday was probably the last time I'll be buying bitcoin, my Bitcoin IRA, as I don't have money ($$$) anymore. I used all my Euro that I have kept when we recently went on a trip to Norway. I have a habit of keeping all this paper Fiat money every time we're visiting another country. Not anymore, I just lost a few hundred dollars worth of Philippine Peso since it expired and I was not paying attention. I also laundered (and by this i mean wash) a few bucks of $$ recently, or should I say I've done it few times not emptying our pockets, and if a part of it is missing the bank will not exchange it. I'm sure this has happened to you too.
It's a great time to be alive!!! Though every time bitcoin hits ATH it makes me very sad somehow because most of my family and friends have not educated themselves. Some might have invested a little bit through dollar cost averaging which is great but most haven't done anything but to tell me every time we gather that they were too busy and have not done so.
The last gathering we had I told them that if they did not want to get themselves involved with bitcoin, at least try and educate themselves so they can educate their children since this could be the world they'll be living in. I tell everyone when they ask me why I even repeatedly talk to them about bitcoin, that it's my moral obligation to tell everyone to educate themselves. . Every time I go inside the gym I look at all these people and it makes me feel sad. I've tried to tell some who has engage a conversation with me, but it's not enough.
I have liquidated all my stocks and bought some bitcoin and paid taxes with it. We lost our private client status with JP Morgan Chase since we pulled out all our investment with them. I am a gold bug that's why I was probably attracted to bitcoin the time I was educating myself, though I only keep physical gold, silver and without a doubt a woman's best friend and I have lots of them. We haven't sold real estate to buy bitcoin although some people did. I retired @ 52 when we sold our business. Gerry is still working, I told him when bitcoin reach 100k which I think is happening by year end 2018 that he has to retire and we can just spend our years volunteering. I think year end 2019 bitcoin will be 500k, and 1M by 2020. Bitcoin can reach 2.8M according to @TraceMayer taking 1% of tax haven offshore assets.
It won't hurt if people would just educate themselves on the economics of bitcoin. Bitcoin is "money of the people" created for the people all over the world.
EDUCATE, EDUCATE, EDUCATE is the key to bitcoin.
